USofA is 21 and should stay as is. There's already enough dumb teenagers out there that get drunk and act like dipexcrements.

I think in Mexico it's 13 or 16? But, it's not like they care in most places.

Oh and I think there's already a thread on this. :]]]

US - 21.  I can't stand alcohol, and I don't care for drunks, either, but prohibition has its own issues.  I don't think it should be lowered - people in high school just starting to drive being allowed to drink sounds like a terrible combination.

16 if your legal parent/guardian buys what you drink
18 is when you can buy it yourself.

12 if you find a crooked shopkeeper :P

Not that I have ever been drunk.

They do, but by then, they've had 3-4 years of experience.  A lot better than, "Hey, I just got my drivers license!  Hey, I can legally drink now!  I'm going to go to a party!"

It would be nice if people were smart enough not to drink to begin with, so the laws would be unnecessary...

problem with this is the protesters against drunk driving even with it at 21 atm their more drunk driving accidents than anything else. If this was to get lowered you would see a lot of ppl against it just for the simple fact that it would most likely cause more accidents.

21 - should probably be lowered to 19, not 18 because most kids turn 18 during high school.
Very well said.  21/USA.
I don't care if they lower the drinking age here in the US.  High school and college are littered with underage drinking.  I myself am not a drinker.  I would like to see marijuana legalized in the US before the drinking age gets lowered, but that's just me. :D

The irony here is theirs more Drunk driving accidents due to liquor being legal then bad events where weed was involved being illegal.

To people that drink: what would you compare the taste to? I find it strange that the taste alone doesn't act as a natural repellent. Personally, I don't plan on ever drinking, I'm just not interested in what it ultimately achieves. As for the age itself (21 in the US), it should probably be slightly higher because brain development continues into the mid-20's, but 21 is ok.

I don't drink beer. Can't stand the taste. I'm more for mixed drinks, liquor, or girlie drinks(they have more alcohol, fuss your face)

3 provinces (Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec) in Canada have 18 as the legal age. The other 10 provinces/territories are 19.

Yeah there are so many people around who drink, then go and get someone killed whether they're in a car or they have a bottle in there hand.
And so many of them would be between 18 - 25. But the biggest problem is responsibility. Heaps of people probably don't care about getting drunk, and some think its cool to get drunk. It's only when a person gets seriously hurt or killed is when they realise what they've done...
