Sorry Shreds, but grenades will not be included in the 4on4 tourney for the following reasons:
- There isn't a cvar/option to disable to command for the impact grenades in the current serverside pball library (and the PBCup website requires the current library due to functionality found in the STDLogging).
- The current grenades spawn way too fast, and this factor combined with the impact grenades offer way too much advantage to the defense, especially in maps of this size.
Otherwise I agree with all the points that you've mentioned. I would like to include either fixed-timed grenades or primed grenades as part of the 4on4 but the grenade options that are currently available aren't something that I think will benefit gameplay.
I will almost certainly include primed grenades when and if they've been implemented properly in Build16(currently you have to use a couple aliases, and they're not backwards compatible with normal servers). One of the benefits of the primed grenades are that if you're going to prime it, it will interrupt your ability to shoot while priming. Otherwise you can just tap the button and launch them like the current timed grenades.
I love the smoke grenades as well but eiii publically showcased his knowledge and tools here no the forms for eliminating the puffs of smoke that the grenades create. So the only option would be to distribute the hack to everyone who isn't using it now and go back to the way smoke grenades were in Q2 (where the screen gets polyblend'd lighter depending on distance from grenade) or let cheaters cheat with a big advantage. I share your disappointment as well since I believe that the recent smoke grenades have been one of the best features that the PB2 client has introduced.
