Why would you register an account to an email you don't use?

Question isn't a stupid one. How many email accounts do you know that expire that fast? If you haven't checked your email account in the time it takes for one to expire then it seems logical to make sure it works before you use it. The logical answer would be use an active email account as stated in most cases throughout the web that requires your email for verification purposes. My question is logical in the sense it allows myself and others to understand why people make mistakes like this in order to help eliminate future recurrences, such as highlighting a section of the user agreement that would state "MAKE SURE TO USE A VALID and ACTIVE EMAIL ACCOUNT WHEN REGISTERING".

Thank you. Now move along.
