Shooting Drag

Went to the drags...

One of the dads of a girl that dances with my daughter has three drag cars. I had been bugging him to take me when he goes so I could shoot pictures, so we finally went. He brought his pro-street 6.0 bracket Chevy S-10 (in the photo album it's the one that say "Morgan Erosion Control Inc." on it).

So he taught me how to help line him up after the burnout and I had total access to anywhere I wanted as long as I didn't go too far past the starting tree as the cars were staging. So I pretty much sat at the line, no more than eight feet away from the cars in the right lane.

This was my first "car" drag race. These were mostly 8.0 to 6.o bracket cars. Pretty loud, but tolerable. When the car pictured below lined up for a test&tune run I was ready. On it's burn-out I quickly learned dragsters came in a much LOUDER category. After the burnout I was ready for the run. I knew the noise would be very loud and was prepared. When that beast took off it was completely obvious he was NOT at full throttle during his burnout. I was six to eight feet away and my whole body shook like nothing I had ever experienced. I was told later that top-fuel dragsters are more than twice as loud as that purple "altered" car.

Hope you guys enjoy these pictures as much as I did taking them!

LOL very funny...

That car did the 1/8 mile in 3.5 seconds @ 181MPH
You obviously can't see the massive cloud trailing behind that looks similar to this one.....

For some reason I was expecting air resistance on bullets.
