*whew* just went through and fixed up all the news archiving and whatnot.  A lot of work for something people will probably never look at.  It was nostalgic reading some of the old posts, though.  Too bad we're not as avid about posting news updates now as we were then.

You should be able to enable translucency in IE using <ELEMENT STYLE=
"filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=50)">
element being a td or whatever
or via javascript: object.style.filter = "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=50)"

object.style.filter = "alpha(opacity=50)" might even be enough

Well, that was a lot of work wasted for nothing.  I got it to work on regular images, but not background images, which is what half of the images are, so it comes out looking crappy like this:
