Escaping characters in names?
« on: April 30, 2011, 07:38:02 PM »
Well, I decided to change my name, to mirror a clan i'm in whose tag is "{g33k}"
So, I typed "{g33k}.x3m157" into the new name textbox, but it put the new name as "g33kx3m157".
That indicates to me, that there is some way to escape text, but I have gone through the documentation, and I cannot find anything about char escapes.
Does anybody know how to do that? Thanks!

well, I modified my logon name in the DP application to '{g33k}.x3m157' and in the logon box it showed up as 'g33kx3m157' but when I joined a match, it displayed there as '{g33k}.x3m157'

you don't have to register your name with the clan tag on the beginning in order to use the clan tag.
All you need to have registered is "x3m157" and if you are in {g33k} then you automatically have the right to use it on the beginning of your name.

For example, I've registered "webhead", but since I am in [ x ], I can use the name [ x ]webhead if I want to, and I don't have to register anything new. I hope you understand this.

Furthermore, I believe special signs like . , ( ), etc can not be registered on dplogin.com. Therefore, if you try so, the system automatically filters those signs out.

-edit-
As they do not affect dplogin.com, you can use them in-game without problems

Are you sure you were typing that into the player name box and not the profile name box?
