Hi
I made this tutorial to show, how to get a good IRC client and learn the irc basics.
1. Get KVIRCa) go to
http://kvirc.netb) click on the quick download link
c) wait for the download to finish
d) open the downloaded installer
e) install it
f) run kvirc simply by clicking finish in the installer.
g) in the first configuration wizard, go to this page (by clicking "Next"):
then replace 'newbie' with a nickname you want to use on IRC.
h) click next
i) choose your theme, personally I prefer the "Minimal" one.
j) click Next, then Finish
2. Connect to IRCGraphical way:
a) click the
icon.
b) type "globalgamers" in the "filter" textbox
c) expand the GlobalGamers tree
d) select any of the options
e) click the "Connect Now" button.
f) Yey! You are connecting!
Console way:
simply type "/server irc.globalgamers.net" in the console.
If you have connected successfully, you should see something like this:
3. Messages & Channelsa) To join a channel, type
/join #channel in the console, for example
/join #paintball. Every irc command begins with
/b) To send a message to a channel, just type something in the console (It cant begin with
/ of course)
c) To send a private message, doubleclick on a nick in the userlist on the right then just type a message in the console
d) To switch between channels/queries, select windows from the tree located on the left.
