Cheap video card recommendations for a Windows 98 computer?

Yeah, well i got this computer with windows 98, 256 ram, Pentium 2, wondering what kind of video card i need to run paintball. Links would be nice. price range upto $40, but ill have more money, i just want the vid card right now.

A $40 video card that supports OpenGL should to fine if you don't use the new models or the water reflection.

(OPENGL isn't in the dictionary? It reeeeally needs updating. I'd be willing to do it. )

First you need to check to see if the motherboard has AGP or PCI slots.  I'd get a geforce series card.  Which one depends on how much you're willing to spend.

I wouldn't pay Comp USA prices for a dinosaur pc like the one you describe...  I think you could get more for your dollar from pricewatch.com.  Do a little research on whatever vendor you use just to be cautious but I've built all my PC's using Pricewatch.

If you like GeForce you might start here http://castle.pricewatch.com/s/search.asp?sc=Geforce&c=Video+Cards&i=37 and look for the highest mb PCI vid card for up to $40 or whatever you wish to spend.  Personally I wouldn't sink too much into a PC that old.

As far as the network card, according to the specs for that card, it will work just fine in that system.

That's an AGP card instead of a PCI slot card so unless you have an extra AGP slot, that vid card won't work.  Again, your PC meets the specifications for the network card you're wanting according to

Ok, well can someone find me a pci vid card under $40 at bestbuy,compusa,walmart,target,officemax. I know some stores like target and walmart prolly dont have them im just naming stores around me.

You will likely have to order one.  Local stores don't usually carry products that old.

That 6200 is pci express, not pci.  Diamond is still using the "Diamond Stealth" line?  Interesting.  I had one of those waaay back when, with the old S3's before even 3dfx, I think.  I wasn't aware there were any brand labels besides ati and sapphire for ati chipset cards, either.
