As we all know, I use worldcraft. I'm just trying to eff with the sun angle settings in bsp. I figured out mainly how to do it, but I am wondering what ambient and diffuse are used for.

ambient = area visible by sky, but not the sun (to simulate ambient light from the atmosphere).
diffuse = area between ambient and direct light, so you don't have hard, blocky shadows.
