He probably would not mind at all and while you seek his approval, you can ask him if he wants his name on the revised or new version.  Ethically, it would be wise to make an attempt to contact him though.

If you've made a concerted effort to contact him to no avail then somehow recognize him with something like "Original B2B designer unreachable"  Just an idea anyway you can use your own words or those LOL

You have the right idea about poor ethics. Good recognition. Please continue the sharp thinking and create it from the ground up please. before you release it.

B2B would probably only take a couple hours to completely remake from scratch, and from the current state of things, I honestly think you should just scrap it and start from scratch anyway.  Design it so there are multiple paths to the flag instead of just one.
