Basic advantages of this format I've come up with so far-
-- It's definitely unique and has never been done before
-- Very little organization required- no need to take signups, and walk-ins are accepted.
-- Requires you to both work as a team while at the same time stabbing your friends in the back.
-- Everyone is continuously playing- noone will have to wait for "their turn".
Here's the format:
ORGANIZATION:
- Create a maplist with sufficient amount of maps for the tournament
GAMEPLAY:
1) Tournament starts with any number of players (6 required, 12-14 is optimal, 20 should really be highest).
2) Every player is divided into one of two teams and a map is chosen by the organizer (or random player).
3) The map is played, with the teams chosen. Game length will be 5 minutes with no maximum score.
4) Each player on the winning team is given a score based on their performance, with the following scoring:
ACTION | [/b][/u]SCORE | [/b][/u]
Kill | 1 point |
Has flag at end of round | 1 point |
Captures the flag | 3 points |
5) The player on the winning team with the highest individual score for that round becomes "captain". Captain chooses players to eliminate from the game based on this table:
PLAYERS REMAINING[/u] | PLAYERS TO BE ELIMINATED[/u] |
2-6 | 1 |
7-12 | 2 |
13-16 | 3 |
17 or more | 4 |
The players chosen to be eliminated may only be from the losing team.
6) The captain takes the remaining players and divides them once again into two teams of his choice. If there are an odd number of players, the teams will remain uneven.
7) Captain chooses the next map to be played from the list (A single map may only be played once per tournament).
8) All of the information in steps 5-7 are revealed to the players in the order of 7, 6, 5 (For drama purposes :)
9) Repeat from step 3 with the remaining players until only one player remains.
10) That player wins.
Simple enough, eh?
More advanced stuff:
Tiebreaker flowcharts:
Order of precedence to decide team captain[/u]
1) Highest individual score.
2) Number of flag caps.
3) Number of rounds ended with flag in hand.
4) Disputed player who was captain last time will be captain this time.
5) If neither of the disputed players were captain, the disputed players will play a game of rock paper scissors (or something as equally stupid) to decide.
Order of precedence to decide winning team[/u]
1) Highest game score.
2) Highest combined individual score of players.
3) Highest individual score of the top player of each team
4) The top players play a game of rock paper scissors, (or something equally as stupid).
