Play Optimization
« on: April 25, 2004, 04:44:55 PM »
I am pretty much playing with most of the default settings.

Can some people post some cfg settings to optimize performance?

Performance as in framerate?  Unless you're on like a voodoo, settings won't really affect your framerate much.  What video card do you have?

lol
i'm embarassed to say...
Matrox G450 Dual Head 32meg

Alot of times I will be firing at some one and then I will die and they will be right up on me when they were just across the map. I will check pings and have more than twice as low ping in some cases.

And then on other occasions i'll be at a corner or coming around a corner and see the enemy as I die. Knowing I would have at lease had a chance to shoot, but never even get the chance.

Maybe I just suck.

Matrox... that sounds ancient.  Didn't they make dot matrix printers?  How on earth are you working on MVPB with that system.  Does UT even load?  If you are suffering from network lag and have a crappy connection, you mght consider adjusting your rate.

s8n first make sure you have alpha 10 and not 9...

cl_locknetfps 0
cl_cmdrate 80
cl_maxfps 0

try that for starters

cl_cmdrate 55 or 60 might work better

Keep in mind when you do that, you upload your configstring to the server every time you press the mouse button.

Yes.  Every time you change a userinfo cvar, it uploads the whole configstring (name, rate, fov, hand, model, etc.) to the server.

it's so you can see the gun using hand 3, and shoot more accuratly using hand 2, and not have to press a bind for hand 3/2 everytime you want to fire.

:P duh.

Why do you need to see your gun?  You know its right there in your hand.  And the game isnt so complex where you might not know which gun you currently have.  I mean, you can only carry one at a time  :D
