Your dad probably has at least a 40 gig hard drive. So just put all the stuff on there, it should only take maybe 2 gigs. It will be much easier to run that way.

Also, sometimes you can't see your own server on the server list. (Although I see mine twice on there  ;D)

Off your iPod?! Eww. That would open up a whole world of issues!

The best bet is just to say intercourse it and run it off your dad's computer, so you don't open up that world of issurs Zorch is talking about.

Edit: Haha. Intercourse it. ;D

There really isn't a point in putting your server on an ipod..... just put all the stuff on your computer i promise your daddy won't even notice it. and also check to make sure public is set to 1. I don't know something to try i guess, but if you can't get it to work just run it off your computer

you wouldn't want to run a server off anything thats external, it would be slow (i.e fire wire, usb)

Forget the ipod all together. Don't use it to run a server or to listen to music. Throw it in the trash and go by a Zune.

Get a Flash drive.
Get USBSlax and install it.
Boot it.
Install paintball and maps.
Done.

Windows 2000 would be fine to run a server on as long as it meets the specifcations for runnning a server.
But you still don't want to run the server off of your ipod. If you ran it off your ipod the server would probably go down frequently because of a bad connection. And when it is up people would probably think you have lag hacks installed on the server. :)

The ipod is just being used for storage -- like a thumb drive.  The only thing it's really going to impact is load times.  I doubt your dad would miss 40 megs of disk space, though...

Anyway, the first thing to do is check http://dplogin.com/serverlist.php and make sure your IP is on the list.  If it is, then it's probably a port forwarding or firewall issue.

If it isn't?

Just get rid of the iPod, Zunes are way better. And, you could use a zune as storage a lot easier. My two cents

with the port issue, go to your control panel

1) click security center
2) click firewall stting
3) Click exceptions
4) click on new port and name it paintball2, and make the port 27910 usb
5) check the box next to it to make it work

If it is.

If it shows up on the ip list but not the server browser, it means it's getting added properly (public is set to 1, etc.), but something is blocking people from pinging/connecting to the server (firewall, router, etc.).

Oh, if it is and it's not showing up. That makes sense. :)
