little Problem to compile my map
« on: April 28, 2009, 12:39:42 PM »
yo,

Since 2 weeks, i'm working on a new map. I did the first base, and i try to compile it without leak.
But i can't compile my map when there are no leaks, and i don't know why. I just can compile it when my map has leaks.
I used "details" and i didn't put too much entities (hm i think),  what can be the problem?
I did only 1 base at the moment, but maybe my map is too big, or i don't know. (picture of my .map).

I don't know what can i say, what do you need to know to help me.

Thx if you can help me ;)

Post what it says in the black box when compiling.

And it's too big if it goes over those purple borders.

Well, it's not going over those purple borders.

I will show you what black box says when compiling, but from my point of view,  you won't find something on it, it's just compiling like other map, but staying on the 8.. of the 2nd line of numportals.

I will post it when i can.

Hm. When i did cvalley, i could compile it in good times, and i don't think that my new base is more big than cvalley at the moment. I will do some test.

But if you some thing to Accelerate compiling (like add more details), it would be nice.

Compling times are not even nearly the same in every map. If you have lots of objects and a complex map it will take time. Just, live with it.

And maybe you are wrong.
If i came ask  on forum, this means i  tested, trying to compile, waiting 1 days (24h) and still staying on the 8.. of the 2nd line of numportals.

It's not my first map, and this problem do not seem to be just a time of compiling.
Well, i will try to find by myself, again.

I've made maps that compiled fast, but after a short period of editing, and not even adding much detail, the map all of a sudden went to taking more than 24 hours to compile.

As far as I know this is normal. Give it a few days.

ok, i will try it again. Thanks.

I know that use "details" help to compile but using "nodraw" in the box "surface", this is helping to compile too? or it takes more time to compile when we used nodraw in our map?

You think that i haven't gotten this kind of problems ever? If so, your so wrong that i'll laugh at it. Lost's compile took so long that i gave up, and gave it to Spook for compile.

And "nodraw" means literally, nodraw. The object/surface isn't drawed by the game. So it appears invisible in-game.
