how long does it take to you to relight map that is big?

Doing a full compile of a complex maps takes up to 24 hours on my machine

Nope, I once heard when corny was compiling some map, and it took him like 4hours (and it was rather small map) and it didnt even light it correctly :p.

the more leaks the map has, the longer the compile will take

I think, on a map with leaks there are just 2 lines in the light world and the map will be dark. I don't think that a final compile or an other compile with light will work correct.
