Server Won't Work After Update
« on: June 30, 2007, 09:03:25 PM »
So I finally got around to updating Paintball2 on my desktop where I run my server. I updated and now my server won't work. The strange part however is that my IP is on http://dplogin.com/serverlist.php but it will not show up on the in-game serverlist. And I notice on the online serverlist that the port is nowhere near where it should be.

EDIT: I tried forwarding the port listed in the online serverlist but it's still a no go. I also have written seta port 27910 in the config but that didn't seem to help.

EDIT2: I wrote set port 27910 into the target line it my shortcut and once again it is still not working.

check the file and see if it says set public 1... it might be at 0, that is the setting that will make it come up in the server list ingame... also try Clear-Refresh-Update in that order for some times it doesn't show after a regular update... But my bets that its not set to public...

It is set to to public 1 I know for sure. I did clear, refrseh, update and my server should up but it was using my LAN IP.

Out of curiosity can anyone see my server?

well youre also not totally at loss yet... see if you can give people your IP to check if they can join your game without the list using the connect command

There may also be a problem with the server name or your server.cfg file... try using either a fresh one?

69.221.128.41 is the IP right now.

I have a dynamic IP so it will change though. But just look at http://dplogin.com/serverlist.php for 69.221.*.*

ok theres your problem I think... my router tells me that I cant enable port forwarding until my IP is changed to Static... Dynamics change too much for it to work... Change your connection to a static IP in your router than see if it works

I ran my server before and I have always had a dynamic so I don't think that is the problem.

Well think of it this way.... youre playing paintball on a GT server... and all of a sudden their server goes dynamic and changes to something totally different... They are still running at their place because they have their own IP however everyone else is still running on that different number...

Oh, and make sure DHCP is disabled

If your server IP shows up on the list, but the port isn't what it should be, then your port forwarding is not set up correctly and it is just getting assigned a random port number.

Well according to the list it is using port 32785 so I forwarded that and still no go.

No, you need to forward port 27910 (or whatever you're running the server on).

I have that and the random port number forwarded. I have had the 27910 forwarded since I used to run my server.

Are you sure it's forwarding to the correct internal IP?  Are you forwarding UDP?  Sounds like something isn't correct.

Also, you may want to vote for UPnP port forwarding (automatically enables port forwarding on routers that support it).

Finally got it working again. The ports were forwarded somewhat correctly.

Here is the problem: Last week there was a storm here and I turned off my desktop and I must have reset the connection on laptop. So my laptop was assigned the LAN IP of 192.168.1.100, what my desktop was. So it was looking for the server on my laptop. I found that my desktop had the LAN IP of 192.168.1.101 and I didnt have the ports forwarded for that.

My solution: I forwarded port 27910 on both LAN IPs so now it will work on either one.
