Linux Download Size
«

The last time I installed a Linux distro, it was Mandrake, and it came on a whopping 3 CDs. The past year or two, I've been using Knoppix for the custom computer in my car, and now I've decided to get Debian, which Knoppix is based off of... only to find out that I need to download
3 DVD or 21 CD ISOs
. Am I doing something wrong, or is this stuff for real?

Isnt there a file that installs the basics and then you install the rest via internet?

Heh. That's the entire reason I was trying Debian.... I'm still liking Slax.

The 3dvd's are for like, debian and every piece of software that can run on it. You can just do a minimum web install and apt-get anything you want.

You need a web connection, though.
