Wine is not an Emulator! :P
You could try looking up your CPU from the sysinfo report or bios report on what it says it is to see if it has SSE. Try running the native client and comparing it to the windows one in Wine to see any performance differences. If you have 3D acceleration set up then Wine shouldn't drain games much at all, I play Enemy Territory: Quake Wars better in Wine in Linux than it runs on my same computer in Windows XP.

Haha, performance differences? Lets just start with the fact that it doesn't even start natively, while it actually runs in Wine.

The way the linux compilers handle floating points and the way the windows compilers handle floating points is different.  The best way I could find to make them somewhat consistent was to use SSE.  I'm pretty sure the windows executable has a non-sse path, but considering you're only getting 2fps, even if you could get it to run natively on that Linux box, eh... why would you bother? :)

Sorry for the revive, but I got it working. I was able to play on an EV1-Alt server today. I had to get nVidia's drivers. They where under the "Restricted" category, so I guess I forgot to enable them.

However, I still cannot get it to run natively, only through wine.
