Sorry we have encountered a problem...

Ok its been over a year since I upgraded to XP media and or home addition.

I once posted that these errors were new to me....using 14 at the time and not one dam thing has changed.

Q2 never caused this. So my first guess is the code Build 14+.

I talked to players to night 'Syntax' was one of several that knew exactly what I was talking about, which helped validate my complaint and or suggestion (however you the reader takes it).

What causes this and can I fix it my self.

I get a pop-up.

From Microsoft.

"Sorry we have encountered a problem....must shut down..etc"

I was hoping the reader was 'sauve' enough to understand what was happening. In a server full (20+) of people not one person asked that and more over they understood the problem I was having, without more explantion then my topic.

If you like you can look back at my complaints about this very same problem with win98se.

I was laughed at and told to upgrade. Which I argued that players with crappy vid cards are given president over players usign older OS....

I will look for it, if you require...."KHHHHHHAAAAAAANNN!!!" .... >:(

This is a bug that crashes the game.

Since you also had this problem before the upgrade, and since no one else has ever reported this problem (that I've heard of), I'd have to say it's some hardware issue.

More on the error message and what happens: Does the game itself crash? Or does the computer just shut down?

Bah good questions, all.

The game crashes.

Yes itself seems to crash.

This error report is in the same format you would see in windows wanting to report a problem..et phone home....

 However its odd because I believe these errors only occur on a Linux server.

Oh, yes. That. That certainly is the game crashing. I was thinking of a completely different error message. :P Disregard my hardware stuff above, it's probably drivers.
 Any specific events that seem to trigger the crash?

And hell, see what data the error contains. It'll probably be useless (as usual), but it might tell us something.

I dont know that is all I get... I took the time to copy this and post it a while ago, regarding the "see what data this error report contains."

Do you need this? It happens often enough to where its no trouble.

You're still on b14?

Here's the deal:  I'm my dual p3-450 with a gig of ram and a tnt2 ultra ( 16 meg card) and I don't see this error unless I get ahead of myself and open dp twice.

Jitspoe has had to fix many bugs until now. So maybe it just has to do with b14 itself and your only solution is to upgrade your pb2 or get media xp again. It's your choice.

Loial's been saying that this problem has been happening since Build 14.  Prior builds were not causing this problem.

I would post the 'see what data this report...' information in this thread, since it will be helpful in determining where the problem exists in the software or if it's a hardware problem.  Make sure you take a quick glance through it and sanitize any sensitive information as necessary.  jitspoe should be able to provide an .exe with some debugging turned on so that the problem can be identified if it's a software issue.  System specs would also be helpful, for that I'd suggest using SysSpec, and pasting the main screen to the reply as well (Edit>Copy to clipboard in SysSpec).

When does this happen?  Every time you open the game, or just randomly while playing?  It could be a bad texture or something.  Does it happen on specific maps?

Knack, seen that happen. I use 19. :)

Randomly happens and on different maps. Although most crashes will happen at the end of the old map. Brainstorm was the last one, oddly enough The reports seem to differ as well. The report I am talking about,  gives memory ranges etc.....this one however as you can see:

Thanks gents. Lemme know...for all I knew it could be hardward issue, but I have been through a gigillion computers boards, vid cards, processors etc and DP builds.

Loail: I was just saying you should try  a vanilla install (a new, fresh installation of DP2), but that hardly seems necessary now that you've said it's happened on multiple computers and builds....


Anyway when exactly does it happen (on game startup, after you flag cap, when you say 'ponies', etc...) and specifically what are you doing as it happens? (scrolling over a button, hitting a key, typing the 'o' in 'ponies')

I get that error when I minimize(alt+tab) the game while its loading another map.

Set sv_sbextreme to 0 so that snaz-bot doesn't use as much resources when enabled and I think you'll be ok....
