Server Difficulties...Help Please.
« on: October 06, 2007, 11:16:41 PM »
Hey
I'm having some problems with my server creation process. (Dedicated server) I've made the server and changed all the information to what i want in my server.cfg file but when i log onto my server and try to type in the admin passwords i says "bad password". So then, i tried to type exec <server.cfg> in the console and it says "couldn't exec config/server.cfg" in the command line (Command Prompt). Also, I asked my friends to check if my server was visible in the public display screen and they said no. I believe i have forwarded port 27910 to UDP packets from my router. But thats not working.
If anyone has any suggestions on fixing these problems i would really appreciate it.
Thank-you.

Are you sure it's named server.cfg? What command line did you start the server with?

Are you sure it didn't say 'couldn't exec configs?

Use this to check the reason why your server isn't public for others: http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=9317.0

I ran the test, the first time the connection failed. So i allowed port 27910 through my firewall and the connection was successfull. But now it says my RCON password is incorrect. This is probably something about what i said earlier about not being able to exec configs/server.cfg. ((Actually in my Command Prompt window is says exactly "couldn't exec configs/myserver.cfg", if thats any help))
Got any more suggestions?

Well, did you set rcon_password to the right password?

And what command line did you start the server with?

And does configs/myserver.cfg actually exist?

Yes, i think so.
Um, i'm not exactly sure what you mean. :S
Also, i think the server i have on the public display screen is a LAN server, how do i delete that at replace with my dedicated server?

Oh and yea, like if you rename the file so that you don't lose your updated progress, or something.

Nevermind.

Also, i think the server i have on the public display screen is a LAN server, how do i delete that at replace with my dedicated server?

That shouldn't be a problem once it works.

Can you copy the log from the server troubleshooter?

And, you installed the game to the default directory? If so, run this in Start -> Run:
notepad c:\games\paintball2\pball\configs\myserver.cfg
Does it open Notepad with the file?

Testing: 66.203.189.57:27910

 Please wait... running tests...

Test Steps
> Checking if 66.203.189.57:27910 can be connected to...
> Connection SUCCESSFUL! Port forwarding and firewall settings correct.
> Checking server list...
> No entries found on the server list
> You entered an incorrect RCON password
Recommendations from Test
The troubleshooter failed to access your server; change the settings of this test and use the correct RCON password
If you still need help, or if the suggestions did not resolve the trouble, please post in the server help forum with the copy of the log below.

And, I think i did. But when i typed games\paintball2\pball\configs\server.cfg (renamed file to server) is just said "The system cannot find the patch specified"?

Any ideas? =)

You know it did if there's the whole server config in front of your face.

If the file does exist, then I am at a loss.
