I am here drinking my coffee catching up on my emails from overnight, when I happen to scroll down to the botton of my Gmail accoutn screen:

darn!!! WHen did they go from ~2700 MB to 4400 MB??

My account was one of the lucky ones that got IMAP early. I setup my imap in thunderbird last night and added lightning 0.7 and an addon for bidirectional google calendar support, it's pretty pimp.

by bidirectional do you mean you can modify your google calendar from thunderbird? haven't gotten that to work so far

you just ask someone or one of your friends to send you an invitation to your current email.

I checked out the IMAP stuff, and I greatly prefer gmail's client to Thunderbird. The threading is indispensable for me, and Thunderbird's just doesn't cut it. $:-\$

Gmail doesn't require invites anymore, as of many months ago.

I don't like Lightning. It's exceptionally... ugly.

btw - on a side note, make sure that you use the following url to get your email:

https://www.gmail.com

Use https for encrypted connection to gmail.
