I'm starting up a training clan (like InT and wsl) we teach basic matching/scrimming, the clan scene and text recon.

you should get a lot of hits if its only text recon... I know alot complain about not wanting to join cuz they dont want voice...

Well Apoc can't use voice in the first place as vent has troubles with linux. So he kind of needs to keep the clan on his level and not be excluded from the recon that can be given during the match/scrim.

But the best advice--Don't worry about getting plowed 90 percent of the time. Noobs will not compete with top players. It is just the way it is.

Of course we also employ a controversial policy that helps our members. We do not allow trash talking or swearing etc. in our matches.

The swearing part is a taste thing. You could just limit it to trash talking if you wanted.

The reason for this is that new players get discouraged easily. And frankly there is no reason to go on and on bashing a training clan. We already know we suck. We don't need reminders.

Some say at the competitive level trash talking helps. But good clans don't need that help against us.

Therefore those who do so, or those who reject the policy outright, go on the no-scrim list until they change their minds, if ever.

You might consider something such as this that protects your players.

Sure 7mau also just so you dont get uncomfortable when I ask you for a tryout its only to see where you're at we'll almost definitely except you unless you're absolutely horrid don't have IRC, and go on like 10 minutes a month.

but when will u come to irc? today and yesterday i been waiting for u almost all day. but r u sure u only want a training clan and not a normal one? because it is cool participating on tourneys even if we loose.

A training clan is a regular one, people just label them as training clans so people who want to join will know the main point of the clan is to help individuals learn and get better. Its so new players will be interested and its a good base for them to jump into the match scene without worrying about messing up or losing.

Training clans are regular clans, just with a different purpose, we are still able to scrim, match, and join tourney's. We are just prepared not to win, since most of the members are newer.

But will the player have to download Ventrilo or anything else?

Because i know i couldnt be in Int cuz i didnt have any.
Now i only have X-fire and MSN.GOnna get AIM soon

using any free email based messenger is kinda pointless don't ya think? just use irc or in-game chat. at least irc wouldn't bog your pc down as much as say yahoo msg.

yes he did but i think that would be hinder the goal for this team. let me discuss some things with you on irc this week and ill also talk to M7 and see what we can do.
