I would challenge you but see no argument to challenge

I was using the default then changed it when i found out about fov. it's now 120, but I do sometimes use 160 though lol. It makes me feel fast :D

Dukky.  My argument was that fov does nothing.  Nobody has said why it would help with anything other than "seeing more".  This can be countered with: You may see more, but things are smaller and distorted.  It's a trade off, with a gain and a loss, leaving you back at neutral.

Umm, actually I believe the max is 180, or at least it is in all other FPS games ever, Thats because 360 = 180 but upside down!! If someone could play upside down, that would be sweet, but yea, I think 180 is max.

Dang, I wanted to shoot someone "behind" me by only turning my mouse like 10 degrees. Nevermind I guess.

Viper is obv. the second best Dp'er, along with me at #1.  Considering we both use 90 fov.

Same here (90 FOV), but I'm one of the exceptions to the rule :P

To change FOV you go to the console (the ~ key), and type "fov <the fov you want>" without quotes.  Fov is the Field Of View, essentially what you can see.  So normally you can see in 90 degrees around you, fov changes that degree to whatever you want, from 10 - 160.  I suggest anywhere from 90-130, and just play with it, because different values make you seem like you are going faster or slower, but it really doesn't matter what you perceive your speed as, because thats just perspective.

Roar.

If two players, one with fov 1 played the other who had  fov 120, according to you, it would be an equal match. In theory your statement is correct, but  remember we are talking in real terms here, discussing past experiences with different fov. You must therefore take into consideration the uselessness of fov1, and although you see targets much bigger, your abilities in movement are greatly hindered. On the other end of the scale, fov 160 allows you to see a lot more and enhances your abilities to move and react within different situations, but your aiming is greatly reduced. Although the difference between 1 and 160 may seem like an equal trade between accuracy and movement, it is not an even parabola with equal extremities.

Fov does make a difference, despite the arguement you put forward that there in a equal trade in accuracy and movement/sight at both ends of the spectrum.

How does 160 enhance your 'abilities to move', or 'react in different situations'?
It gives the illusion that you have more reaction time, and that you are moving faster, when in fact you are not.  I guess it also gives the illusion that you play better as well.  Yukyukyuk.

And I was using a comparison of 90 fov to 100+ fov.  Stating that the 'norm' is undoubtedly better.

Your turn.

Compared to a fov of 1, i can react better to most situations using a fov of 160.

Fov does make a difference of course, but the difference between 90 and 100 is negligible, the difference between 1 and 160 is not.

You are both right duh.
