Feature: MOTD--->Place for a wrapper of a webiste!
« on: January 13, 2008, 01:03:02 PM »
Okay this is easy to explain. Example:

You connect to a OTB-Server--> There's not a motd. But a wrapper to the otb page(or the page to rent a server). Simulary to the css motd.

Why? I think this will get more developers and game server hosters in dp²(good place for advertising)

and

A wrapper in the main menu to dplogin.com. A button like the "console" and teh "help" button.

Could you explain this a little more?  What do you mean by "wrapper"?

He means a browser, like when you join a CS:S, DoD:S or similar game server, and you get a website in a popup box for the motd.

I'm really confused that you don't know what a "wrapper" is. Let me try to explain. A wrapper is a page in a page ( example http://demo.yootheme.com/jan08/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=8 ). It's only a browser in a page or in a game.

Official name: browser, or more specifically: in-game browser.

Personally I don't know who would bother to visit a server's website, especially given that the regular MOTD is only there for a few measly seconds. The last thing I want to do in a game is use its browser too. Especially since, in Paintball's case, its resource usage is low enough that ALT-TABing out of the game is quick and painless.

Does CSS really have embedded web pages for their MOTD?  I thought it was just formatted text.  In any case, as I mentioned in the other topic, I'm not planning to have an embedded web browser in the game.  There's way too much overhead.

A server could just replace one of the textures to be goatse, or make an ASCII goatse. :|
