Do I really need pak9.pak which is located in the pball directory?

Just asking because I need to free up some disk space.

Probably not, but it really depends what's in the pak9.pak.  It's not something that comes with DP, so it might be a crosshair, texture, or model pack that you downloaded from somewhere at one time.

No.  Not sure what that even is - sounds like something from one of the quake2 patches.  It probably isn't going to free up much space, though, unless you meant pak0.pak, which is pretty much all of the quake2 content.  You don't need that, either.

pak9.pak was typically the ones that custom crosshairs/huds/etc were distributed as (or the readme might say rename this to pak9.pak to enable), since it would load last.

It could also be a little q2 mod that's distributed as a pak.

Your best bet may be to get PakExplorer or something that opens paks in Windows to see what's in there.
