Phong Shading on Terrain
« on: October 25, 2005, 01:47:02 AM »
Looks like the file uploads still aren't working right.  I'll just put this on dpball:

http://dpball.com/files/mapmaking/samples/phong_terrain.map

I also added a couple (realistically-sized) barrels in there.  One with phong and one with out, like the hills.

All you have to do to make something phong shaded is apply a light value (but don't check the light flag).  Everything with that value will be shaded together.

Lol, reason why it looks so bad on Everglades was because it was all one brush. It needs to be multiple brushes.

No it doesn't. It works well on barrels, which are only one brush...

Clearly you're an idiot. The hills in everglades are one sides brushes, barrels are typically 8 sided.

Um, those hills have more than one side.  Having more gradual changes in angles (read: more faces) helps, though.
