old thread needs deleted

i get this error saying....

what im doing is modifing the UB_Cliff map....and im trying to compile it in finall (high quality).....and thats when i got the error....now i dont get the error when i compile it in final....but it was a little slow at first.....

Before you go decompiling another persons map, you should ask permission to do so.  Its not a rule, it just makes you look more respectable.
Also, the search feature brought up an answer for your question.

hey...that map was in the public domain.....im not disagreing with u...but its also hard to contact someone to get permission....but really i dont have to get permission.....

The maker is active on these forums.  Where did you get the .map file if you didn't decompile?

Decompile means you run the bsp file through a program and it made a .map file.

There is too much area to lightmap at that quality. High quality compiles are barely distinguishable from final compiles anyway, so just final compile it.

I thought you meant in compiling.

If it's getting slow in-game, it probably means high R_speeds, which may mean that the map is leaked. Also, don't release it until warwulf agrees.


KnacK: DP and S8N released all their .map files in zips, plus krewzer releases his maps with source and so do a few others.

You should install your BSP to C:\.
