S8N,

You can always try http://picasa.google.com/

It doesn't seem to draw a lot of the "other" photos that some of the other sites have, plus, sites like flickr and photobucket are blocked by alot of company firewalls just based on content.

I kind of want my own space so I can host my sister's site and my stuff which would be more than just photos.

Anyone know of some good hosting?
I'm looking in to getting hosting where smokey had his unless someone knows a place better. No pron will be placed there btw.

S8N, in the past, I used www.wyenet.com

I had service with them for years. Shared hosting was about $20.00 per month for a nix box but you had a great server, great conenctivity, and great tech support ( you call them, a HUMAN IN THE U.S. answers)

http://www.wyenet.com/shared_special.shtml

I also had a dedicated server with them.

http://www.surpasshosting.com/

That's the one smokey used. Only $7 a month. Any good...seemed to be fine when my photo album was on it.

I could just give you some hosting, it's guaranteed until at least feb next year, and I'm going to renew it. As long as there's no pron/warez it's fine. PM me if you're interested.

PS - it has MySQL and PHP and a ton of other crap, Zorch uses it too.

I also have access to webspace (aside from what ViciouZ has given me), and I like it so far.  Its GoDaddy and I haven't had any issues so far.  I forget how much it is (I don't pay for it), but its the economy plan and it's done what I've needed so far (Drupal based site).

Second looks better to me.  The first is way too saturated.

Those were taken at The Georgia Renaissance Festival back in April/May or something like that.

Very nice, S8N - I like how you got the guy in almost the exact same pose as the poster.  Did you enhance the colors with software, or was that how they came off of the camera?

I did a little shadow/highlights to them.
I like how that filter enriches the colors, only you can get carried away, and leave halos around your subject, if not careful.

halos rock my world. glad you like that filter. it's basically all i use besides the occasional auto level and contrast.

S8N's use of minimal filters in contrast with coLa's awesome tricks makes this page great.  You guys do good work, regardless of what KnacK always says.

* KnacK glares at comrade y00tz...

In Soviet Russia, you dont take good pictures, the pictures take you!

On a side note, my father always told me that there are pictures, then there are photographs.  Most of these I would consider photographs, especially the medevil woman with the bitter beer taste expression ;D

thanks! ;D

the way i see the difference between pictures and photographs is, pictures are just random shots of random things, and photographs are actually planned out and thought of before pushing the "button". that's just my interpretation.
