Keith,

Here's a pic that you need to try.

For teh record: I'm a HUGE fan of B/W.

Take a shot of your daughter in color, the in photoshop strip all of the color out except her eyes. That would be the money shot.

On a side note: I'd hate to be you when she starts liking boys......

I'd rather not expose too many pics of my own daughter on the internet.

I don't mind showing some nice shots of my daughter.
What you won't see or hear is anything about my guns and various defensive and offensive devices and such.

^ looks like he's one to watch out for.

wanting to find out what protection you have.

(although, seeing Fl1p's kids with guns makes me want to stay out of Colorado. LOL)

OK.

I just got ALL of mt father's pictures that he took before he passed away.  He was an avid photographer and was published in a boat load of magazines, typically related to the outdoors.

I am looking for a good quality flatbed scanner and a slide/negative scanner so I can get these things digitised and share with you.

Any thoughts?

I don't use a scanner. I just take a picture of any pictures I have with my camera.

Looks like you're getting a pretty broad depth of field now.  What settings are you using?

Well I set my lights up and had my camera on a tripod with a remote shutter cable.
This allowed me to shoot at f32 @ 100ISO. The feather tuft is f8, which looks better than the f32 version because at f32 too many feathers were in focus.

All of these were with the 50mm on top of the 17-70mm set to 70mm, which is a little better than 1:1.

I'm pleased with it. I tried a few water drops, but my shutter was only at 1/50 which is WAY too slow.

I need to test the 50mm on top of my 70-200mm @ 200mm next with this same setup.

Now I just have to wait for the insects to start coming out!!!

When I tried to use high f-values, I got a larger depth of field, but the area that was in focus wasn't nearly as sharp.  Have you noticed this, or is it just something with my camera?

There might be a little softness in them.
The 40D has Live View which allows you to look through the LCD, zoom in 10x, and manual focus to great precision. Seems to work good.

Here's the full size image and XIF to look at.

Using the wireless stuff and flash, along with the vertical grip. Still waiting for the other flash to come in. Should be here this week.

Some more...

Not sure how I feel about these. My flash started losing power midway through, so I bounced the light off a wall to the immediate left.

Maybe B&W conversion would make it a bit better, or is it just complete fail?

Ah work must be blocking the site you host those images on Cola.
Nice snake!

Here's my attempt at catching the contact of a golf club with the ball last week...

Yes, that is I. Notice the club flexing forward at the moment of contact. Can anyone guess where this ball is going?
