hey I'm kind of trying to get into the whole photographer thing and was wondering if anyone could link me to a site that has a "decent" camera for around the $500-$600 range, i wanted to start doing photos for my friends while we're skating :D

The Canon Digital Rebels might be in that price range now.

i'd go with the XTi. it has a 3in LCD screen, great camera for beginners and compatible with so much glass you won't know what to do with them.

i believe the nikon d40 doesn't have an auto focus feature like the XTi does.

my opinion has nothing to do with the fact that i shoot canon(or maybe it does ;))

Still doing HDR stuff?  The colors/shadows look really nice in that shot.

nah it's not HDR. it's shadow/highlight in Photoshop. ;D thanks.

the original plan was to do an HDR photo, but i didn't like the way they came out.

These pics are amazing good work guys. I was wonering if someone could post a few pics or attachments or w/e in a size that would allow me to be able to set  it to my desktop background (if you dont mind) as mines just plain blue. Once again, wow.

On Mother's Day we had a tornado rip through the vicinity. My camera got left outside overnight that night. It had the small, 17-50 f2.8 lens on it, so i'm not completely devastated (the big lens is $1100). So my camera is at the camera shop getting an estimate for repair for the insurance company.

Also, Smokey lost his hosting so my entire photo album is gone. I have a mirror of all the images I had up, so not too bad of a loss. I just need new hosting to put my album up on.

Anyone know of good hosting? I guess I should break down and buy some.

don't use photobucket. it kills the quality of the photos. that is, unless you don't care. i personally use/love www.flickr.com . it doesn't kill the quality and it's free. ;D

sucks to hear about your cam. hope you get that fixed soon. makes me happy that i bought 2-3 different insurance policies for my cam. ;D
