USB Logitech Mic + Guitar Hero Controller = Garbled Sound

This is rather strange.  I grabbed the PC version of guitar hero since it was only like $40, and as soon as I plug the controller in, my USB mic starts garbling sounds.  Sounds like some kind of robot on crack.  This continues even after I unplug the guitar controller.

The magnets in the Guitar Hero controller might be messing with the mic.  My cell phone does it to my mic and speakers too sometimes.

Magnets?  It has something to do with USB.  Even after I unplug the controller, the mic is still messed up.  It's still messed up if I unplug the mic and plug it back in.

My bad.  My mic and speakers get screwy when my Nextel phone is near them and the speakers got nuts when an incoming text or call is received.

That's due to the 800MHz carrier that Nextel uses.
