Music editing and Youtube posting help
« on: April 25, 2008, 07:42:22 PM »
I don't blame you guys for hating me for all of these off-topic topics I've been creating. However, I am in desperate need for you guy's help. I'll have you know this was my last resort, so I don't ask your advice on all your problems, this one was my last resort. Admins, please be so kind as to make sure this problem is answered before you remove this thread. I'm sorry.

Ok, I made a really funny song with some software be means of splitting the song and inserting of stuff from other songs. I put a lot of work into that song, about 6 hours and now want it on YouTube.

I have run into nothing but the strongest of frustration when attempting to put it on YouTube. Let me start from the beginning. How I made this song, was I took a normal song on iTunes and downloaded a bunch of other songs. I installed mediajoin 3.0. I splitt the songs up using iTunes (right click the song, convert to WAV, right click song, get info, options, adjust time), then trimming down other song's inserts to put in this song. When I got all the stuff together, I used mediajoin 3.0 to connect it all into one song. All that I've mentioned so far was done in an audio format. Figuring that YouTube would automatically convert it into a video format, I submitted it.

It said that it is in the wrong format and was rejected. I now put it back into mediajoin but with an output of a video format (MPEG). Everything from here on I'm talking about the same thing but in video format. It seemed to work, so I uploaded it again. Well, while I was uploading it, a problem occured. It said it uploaded successfully and was live, but only the first 19 seconds of the 7 and a half minute song was uploaded. This was one of the worst things that could happen.

Since that video was uploaded, I tried uploading it again, but it wouldn't take it, it said I can't have duplicate downloads. This really made my head hurt trying to think of ways to get around it. I'm sure whatever the reason was for just the first 19 seconds being uploaded, I'm sure it was a 1-time thing. Now I tried modifying the song so slightly no one would notice it, but it would keep it from being a duplicate. So I did some more of mediajoin, but this time when it came out, the song length ended up completely random times, some were 30 seconds while others (after repeating it) came out 20 some minutes. I don't know where this came from, so to see what happened I went to listen to it and the sound card on my computer had some kind of "error" (error is now the word I hate seeing more than any other word, I consider one of the worst of words, from experience) and could no longer listen to ANYTHING.

Everything I've talked about so far has been done on computer A. Ok, now I tried installing media join and iTunes on the upstairs computer, computer B. I saved the audio one on my jump drive and took it to computer B, hoping to convert it to video format again via mediajoin. I put that song on there and another song that was 0 minute, 0.01 seconds just so that it wouldn't be a duplicate. I hit "join" and it said error. I think it said Run-time error '6' overflow. I was angry. I've tried it over and over and restarted the computer (both on this one and the other one).

I've googled some software that could fix this. All of the ones I've downloaded were trial versions that won't work. They say free, but you don't realize it's only a trial version and the real one is very costly. That's sick enough to make a starving man throw up. They should have something like that for free, the full version. There's no way I'm going to pay a lot just to find out it still doesn't work. Despite what software sites say, not many things tend to work on our computers.

I've installing mediajoin on computer c, my sisters computer. It didn't work either, but for a different reason. It said that the file could not be located. I'm not supposed to be on my sister's computer, so I really didn't have a whole lot of time to experiment, but I could kind of tell that it wouldn't work.

I've tried it on 3 different computers and it didn't work, and all of the computers are SLOW, it wait forever, and I consider my computer knowledge above average, not a whole lot, but somewhat. That little lightbulb above me head has constantly been proven wrong by these stubbon computers. I'm really frustrated and at my wit's end, as well as my fuse's. I've told all of my friends that I would be soon posting this song on youtube and am angry that it hasn't happened and am keeping them waiting. I've spent WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more time than I should've and planned on (about 20 hours) trying to get this song onto youtube and still haven't seen any successful results, what I thought would be a simple task. I've done too much to quit, I have to finish what I've started. I need to get this done so that I can spend more time on the trumpet. And no, I haven't posted videos on youtube before.

I'm looking for a suggestion on what I can do to get this successfully uploaded onto youtube, if you can do so, you are amazing. A good suggestion would be how to fix one of the problems that went wrong. Or to suggestion a converting-audiofiles-into-videofile-media-joiner that can be downloade for free (the full version). I am frustrated and it is beyond my knowledge to get this uploaded successfully, (maybe if the computers worked better I wouldn've gotten somewhere). Thanks in advance.

This goes in Other Stuff.

Anyway, don't use MediaJoin. It sounds like that's the sole source of your problems, so stay away from it. Use Audacity instead?

If you have a copy of the song that works, stick it in windows movie maker then do 'save movie as' then upload it.
