Lights
« on: May 29, 2008, 03:03:34 PM »
my lights aren't lighting anything there just lighting themselves... they're not lighting the ground or anything!

Modify: my sun_light_500 thing isn't working either

Copy and paste the output in the compiler.  We need that to be able to pinpoint the problem.

i cant seem to copy it...

modify: but here i can type it.. i see whats wrong but i don't get it!

You should obtain the Arghrad 3.00 test before lighting.
Unfortunately it can't be redistributed so grab it here:
http://Http://forums.gamedesign.net/viewtopicphp?t=49129
Then place arghrad.exe in c:\bsp\quake2\util
and deleted the echo's from c:\bsp\quake\pball\compilers\rad.bat

Press control-a, then control-c.  The mouse doesn't work in that window because the window only responds to user-keyboard input.
EDIT:  Don't worry about that arghrad stuff.

Ok, you first compile the map.  Test the map in-game and while the game is open, ALT-Escape out.  Do the control-a, control-c thing and then paste it here.  The arghrad default settings are good for now.  For more information on sun settings, try this link: http://digitalpaint.planetquake.gamespy.com/testwiki1/pb2wiki.php?word=Sun+Lighting+Guide

You won't see the text actually highlight.  You just hit the buttons and then right-click paste in here.

Try clicking on the upper-left icon of the window.
Then Edit>Mark
Then select the area and hit enter.
Then paste the text into something.

What compiler are you using? qbsp?  I don't see any errors in your output.

Thats your problem.  Don't use that compiler.  Use qbsp for quick testing of your map layout and what not and use the qbsp vis rad compiler to test your lighting.
