Wireless Servers

Hello. I just got a wireless router and want to make a server. Is there any possible way? Please help  ;D

P.S. This is why my server was freezing up. I used "Start New Game"

It is possible, however if your computer is one of the computers using the wireless connection (I.e. you're no longer connected to router using ethernet/network cable) then the performance will be very poor. It is best to keep your server located on a computer that is attached to the network with a network cable.  Additionally to ensure that people will be capable of playing on your server over the internet it is required that you make some adjustments in the router settings to allow people to connect to the server.

okay. I remember a certain code you put in the "Properties". What was that?

When I did it my first time, the BG was black, and the text was quite different

I don't believe it contains information pertaining to your router configuration, however that will let you start a dedicated server locally on your network.

That's normal and will be fixed in the next release.  What's happenning is that the server is trying to report its status to the Master Servlist (which has since moved locations).  New server builds will have the updated serverlist location, and the HTTP headers won't be dumped to the console.

Everything still functions in the same manner.

This server is operating in Dedicated Server mode.  You must open up paintball2.exe as normal and connect to it in order to play.

Slighty off-topic, but here is a good possibility to post my problem.

I've bought a new computer and wanted to recreate my own server. After I did all the things to create a server, I started it, but wasn't able to join it as a external server. I just can see it as a LAN-server. I opened the port for paintball on my router, but nothing happend. Is there a new command in build15, because I used build14 (or even build12) when I had my old server.

This is what I have under "Target":

You need to both open the port on your firewall (if you have one) and forward the port to the appropriate computer on the router.

The way I had to do it when I had Verizon DSL is I had to pass the IP address from my router to the computer I wanted to be a server, kinda putting it in the firewall DMZ too.

Same here. I did those steps, and my server appears online even if I leave, but still 2 problems

1. I told Delmar to update the server list, and he said it wouldnt show up.
2. The login wont work.

I am using linksys. (wireless)

EDIT: Here is what I see. My Friends that want to join dont..

No. I did the following steps.

1. Make a copy
2. Insert +set dedicated 1 +set public 1 +exec myserver.cfg +map slowjump5 in the Copy

madandbored1342: You are required to setup some sort of port forwarding on your broadband router.  Let me know what make and model your router is and I will see if I can help you.

gamer: Routers or firewalls add an extra step in configuring your network for internet TO the server.  Some routers or firewalls are easier than others to setup.  Almost all times you will need to create a rule for port forwarding, open a port, or enable DMZ.

If you don't have a router, it's actually easier to set up a server.  All you have to do is open port 29710 for UDP traffic on your firewall.  If you don't have a firewall or a router, you should be able to simply start up a server without having to mess with any of that.

We really need to put together some guides for port forwarding on routers.  Unfortunately, I don't have one, so I can't put together step by step instructions.
