Are one on ones really relevant?
« on: June 02, 2008, 07:29:15 PM »
Are they?

Do they show how good a player you are, or do they show how you cant work with a team. I get asked it a lot, and it bugs me. Someone will be pissed off at me and be like WANNA GO 1V1?!!. or "IF YOU LOOSE TO ME IN A 1V1 THEN UR NOT AS GOOD AS ME"

Is this true? i would just like some clarification. In my opinion, i think one versus ones are pointless and don't serve a purpose at all.

pointless. in this game it doesn't matter how good you are by yourself. what's more important is how well you play with a team. teams win games, not single players.

1vs1 shows some skill, but it doesn't show if you are a better player,

I would say it is far from pointless, but certainly does not factor in other team-based skills and factors. There are a lot of 1-on-1 'mini-confrontations' in a normal team game..

1v1's are only for fun in my opinion.  Sometimes people take it seriously when i do 1v1 them but then I just leave if they do, its more for fun.  UNLESS its like a 1v1 tournament :).

I reckon 1vs1 show how good you are whithout help. Theyre not really very important. and someone might play better with other popele so mite not do so great in 1vs1. It your opinion and how you find them relevant.

Theproblem with 1-on-1s is that if ou find a place where you can see alot of the map, if you see something move, you KNOW that it is the enemy. In the same way, if you see something and start to follow it back to your base, then you KNOW that you can't be killed unless he turns around. This is particularly annoying in elimination as the only onjective is to seek and destroy, if, say, in jump you go opposite ways, then it will take FOREVER to win the match.

Thsi rule applies in normal games as well becasue if someone is moving, then its probably your enemy (also you can tell by the colour)

Also, there is a quote button: use it

Yeah, they really need a personal mute/vote mute function in this game
