On July 31st 1998, the first ever public beta of Digital Paintball II was released. In 3 days, Digital Paint: Paintball will be 10 years old.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!_{in 3 days time}

Now, the reason I've made this post today, is that I was, as a GG ComRep, I was organising some celebration - a DM ladder and mapping contests scheduled to start on July 31st - but I won't be here for the next week and I therefore can't put anything into practice. Also, QuakeCon means that some of the GG staff won't be able to be around on that day either.

So, if you want to, it's now up to the community to organise something. If you speak to the remaining GG staff I'm sure they will provide you with help for a tournament or DM ladder. When I get back, I will organise another mapping contest, but for now, any celebrations are up to you!

Now was July 31st the first release of the stand alone DP or was that still when we needed Q2 to play it?

Still needed Q2 - it'll be a few years before the standalone

U mean Paintball 2.0

The "Paintball 1.0 by Quake Innovations" Version 1.00 is older (Jan. 1998).

That's for quake 1, and by quake innovations, which Digital Paint broke away from.

Build 3 was the oldest one i have played.

Anyone has Build 1, 2 or 15 for me?

Haha, 300 round hopper that's smaller than the gun's trigger frame.

I guess we'll have to have a PB2 birthday party at QuakeCon. Scary to think the game is older than a lot of the people who play it.

I can't wait for the mapping contest! The First one that im actually able to participate in!(I hope)

I don't think I've met someone who is under 10 and plays this. I was 6 when this game came out.
