Lights can't be toggled, for whatever reason. You're not doing anything wrong, the engine just doesn't support it.

Along those lines...  IMO it would be interesting if when say the red team gets the blue teams flag, a number of blue lights throughout the map flash a couple of times and vice versa.

Here is an idea to make a way for lights to work (it probably wont but I don't really make maps so I am not sure)

Could you have lights that are always on on...then put entity in the form of a ceiling that covers the lights.  This way when they hit the light "switch" it moves the ceiling entity and it like the "lights" got turned on...

ex.
           ******** ->

Basically the top line is the real ceiling, the asterisks are the lights, the bottom line is the ceiling entity and the arrow is the way the ceiling entity would move.

Are you serious...

it took me forever to figure out what to say, how to say it, and that amazing drawing was hard to do.

T3RR0R15T, did you try to make it or do you just know it wont work.

wallpainter, the lighting model in DP isn't dynamic, it is a static lightmap pre-calculated by the RAD compiler.

Your idea wouldn't work because by default entities don't affect the lighting of a map, and that the lighting of a room isn't dynamically calculated.

If it was supported in Q2, why was it removed for DP? I mean, it has questionable gameplay implications, but I imagine it might add some novelty to some maps.

ok thanks for clearing things up.. too bad I couldn't understand some of the stuff you said.  Until I read it like four times.

Well is there any way we could put in back in?
