Everyone is given invites at the same time.  You'll probably get some the next batch.

Same here.  PM me for an invite.

About the game:  I like it but it sucks that you can't change the resolution.

You can change the resolution. It's just in the settings panel.

UPDATE

Tuesday, February 24, Quake Live becomes an open Beta!  If you have been in
the closed beta, you are urged to play a quick game as the accounts which
have not been played on for 28 days will be deleted.  However, all accounts will
loose their stats.

You will be able to play Quake Live Tuesday evening at: www.quakelive.com

:D

Quake Live is such a freaking joke. :(

It's a shame, too, because Quake 3 is a fantastic, fantastic game when you've got a decently balanced game going. Hell, even if it's 10-4 you can have a good time. But in Quake3 the skill difference between an experienced player and one who's been playing, even for a few months is massive. When you take that skill discrepancy and add it to team-based pub games (ala Clan Arena) one player can easily ruin an entire team. When you combine a game that needs each and every player on a team to contribute to it to succeed with a 'everyone can play! Join up!' mentality, you get bad things. The skill balancing system they have in place now doesn't work, period. I hope it gets fixed when more players get introduced into the system... but I'm not confident. The less noble players will do what they can to stay at the lower ranks and just terrorize people who aren't sure what they're doing.

Quake does not lend itself to accessible play. :/

Ya know back in the day I wouldn't even play on servers that had the lightning gun enabled.
I hate that gun.

That's my only gripe.

I love the feel of Q3. I miss RA3.

I get slaughtered now. Maybe if I play enough I can get the groove back.

One thing they have done very recently is completely rework the training mode thing (you are forced to go through it again).  You start out by proving your experience level on an 'obstacle course'.  Basically, "make it to the furthest portal you can."

I easily made it all the way to the end, but I still suck! D: It's a step in the right direction, though.

Pball has pretty clearly made me significantly worse at QL-- I can jump and move better than most people, but I jump and move to my death :X
It's a tough habit to break. Moving without jumping feels alien.
