Build 24
« on: October 15, 2008, 10:25:12 PM »
http://dplogin.com/files/clients/windows/paintball2_build024_update_pretest2.exe

Haven't gotten the linux version done, but I might wait a bit on that anyway, since I want to get the client out so people have the vwep models.  Just putting out what I have, otherwise I'll  never get around to it.  Let me know if there are any issues.  Oh, and fire up midnight - I have some new cricket sounds.

Edit: Full version here:

http://dplogin.com/files/clients/windows/paintball2_build024_full_pretest1.exe (curretly uploading - if it fails, try downloading it again later).

Note: Vwep only works correctly with the new player models.  The old player models are no longer supported.

I can't hear any crickets on midnight, but I tested the sounds and they work fine.

A bit quiet, so maybe it's just my settings or something.

Does the vwep require the server to be running build 24?

Needs 24 on the server, from what I can see.

vweps are only supported on the new models.  I forgot to mention that.  MD2's don't support attachments.

Takes about 30 seconds before they start.  You may also have your volume too low.  I wanted to make them have a nice ambience, but not be too overpowering/annoying.

Bug: It shows the pgp weapon model everytime, when i start a new map (round too? not tested.), not my "real" weapon. It is correct, if i pick up a weapon.
Tested with my homeserver ("map dome").

you should try sometime in the future to make it available for the old models as well seeing as alot of people use them =]

Not just no but HELL no.

It's time to stop backward compatability.

+1

The old models don't look as good as the new ones.  The animations are weird looking too.

Ah, I forgot to test on maps where you spawn with weapons.  Thanks for the bug report.  I think I'm going to hold off making a "public" release of build 24.  I've got some new sound effects I want to get in anyway.

skitzo: r_oldmodels 0; vid_restart.  Problem solved :).  Why are you using the old models?  It's not possible to support md2 vwep without a lot of tedious work.  If you have an issue with the new models, we should work on getting that straightened out, rather than trying to support some really dated, low-poly model that doesn't even fit the bounding box properly.
