L4D's demo came out today on Steam, with the game being released next Tuesday (18th). I was just curious if anyone else was trying it out (http://store.steampowered.com/app/530/).

I've played a lot of CSS Zombie Mod and Zombie Panic, so I wasn't sure if the demo would live up to expectations. It turned out to be quite good, especially as the difficulty level goes up (you'll lose many times with difficulty set to "expert", but it makes for the most intense and scary gameplay).

I was able to turn all settings to high (I left AA off), and my 6800 ultra chugged right away at it. I guess their decision to use Source paid off for compatibility. My only complaint is L4D feels too tailored to the xbox. It makes matchmaking really easy, but finding detailed server information pretty difficult.

$45-50 is a lot to pay, though. I may wait until it drops a bit (and especially when I have more time to accidentally get addicted to it).

I'm desperately trying to download it at 20kb/s. Apparently Valve didn't prepare too well for the download rush.

I'm not sure how much content is in the game, so I'm a little hesitant to get it right as it comes out, before the mapping community has started up. It looks fantastic, though.

Played the demo today at my friends house for x360.. Such a good demo!

Although, I do hate being at the back of the pack and getting strangled and dragged back while my team just runs ahead blasting...
I think the co-op online would get frustrating because everyone just wants the most kills and really don't care about the team.

Amazing game! I wish there were difficulty levels above expert though. Anything below that is just plain boooring.

EDIT: To make this post worthwhile, the one thing that I don't really like are the clear musical cues, for, say, what I've lovingly dubbed a 'Horn rush'. I'd love it if the music kicked in just as they attacked, or about half a second before, but as it is now you have a good three or four seconds to get in position so that you can easily defend against the impending swarm. I know you can turn the music off, but I like the music. I don't like the warning. :\

I just went through easy mode in a half hour. Only using the single pistol. And never using a med pack or any pills. sk89q was right.

I really like Killing Floor, so I got pretty annoyed about all the hype surrounding this, but I decided to bury the hatchet and try it. It's FAKKING ORRSOME. Even though the boomers are a bit too exactly-the-same-as-Bloats-from-Killing-Floor for my tastes.

The boomers are way too weak for my tastes. I'd like for them to actually be a threat, rather than a 'one-hit-and-they're-down' thing. At worst, they sneak up on you, give you zombie AIDS, and then 30-50 zombies come running at you. I've never had it be a threat, at any level of play.
