Edit: Overheating or Graphics card?
« on: November 15, 2008, 06:25:01 PM »
I have two computers, one works for paintball and one doesn't.

EDIT: Updated. Please see the last page of this thread for my updates on this computer.

Used to be a lagging issue. Problem: Basically the lag is gone, and I can play fine until I kill someone, then it freezes. I do not believe its an overheating/hardware problem, from the tests that I have ran. Yet I do not think it is my graphics card because it's not lagging anymore.

On the good computer, go to the console and type

Code: [Select]
draw_fps 1
I believe its that, if I'm wrong someone tell me, cbf'd checking.  Then do the same on the other computer and tell us what they are, on the same map, pointing at the same location.  So say, looking mid bridge on shaz22 from high.

The best thing to do is not to download any upgrades for DP, or just buy a new computer. =]

If one computer is fast than the other, then it could be the processor speed at witch the computer runs at. Are both of the computer the same age or is one older than the other? If the one that is lagging older than the other one, then just update the computer. Also, it could be that the computer that is lagging does not have enough memory to keep up with the game.

i believe it is an older computer and ive tried updating it. as far as memory, there isnt enough memory on the lagging computer to make dp sooooo horrendous when i try to play.

Well if the code still dose not work and you don't mind spending some money, when you update your computer as in processor you want to update your motherboard to. The processor and motherboard must be compatable with each other.

Screenshots would be lovely =]

On the lagging computer you could always try turning off reflective water and turn down the quality of the textures. Might get a few more fps out of your videocard.

I'm also going to guess that you are running an onboard graphics card to get that low of fps.

Ki3s, definitely turn off your reflective water, that should make a difference. I had to turn mine off for some reason I thing ever time I when by water is would lag, but I cant remember.

I'd say that 60 is pretty avarage.
My fps in most maps is over 9000 500.

Your fps is probably only 60 because you have vsync turned on. However, any frame rate increase over 60 will not be displayed by a CRT monitor, so there is not really much use in changing it.
