Paintball 2 on my laptop :S
« on: December 19, 2008, 06:09:36 PM »
Ok, ok..
I have got this laptop I think it's 8 inch screen (10 inch maximum im sure) and when I tested it out. I tried to download Paintball 2. I went to Files/Downloads and downloaded the Linux version.
(As it uses Linux)

And a white box came up saying GL/Error or something, basically it wouldn't load. And it also wouldn't come up on my applications etcetra.

Any thing you recommend that I do so I know what to do on Xmas day. :D

I've got a picture of my laptop as an attatchment, although the below one isn't a picture of my one. This one has got XP downloaded onto it.

Like I say, all help at all will be much much appreciated.

You need to have a OpenGL capable video card with the associated drivers.
What flavor of Linux is it?

I know this is kinda off topic but how are those small laptops?  I'm thinking about getting one for school since I have a desktop and don't need a full sized laptop.

Hi

Can you run glxgears from command line ?

What 3d card does it have ?

If it has 3D i'm sure you will get it to work (to some degree).

What? Cable?  OpenGL is software, and your hardware needs to be compatible.

What Kind of video card does it have?

agreed, for the most part - I've one of these and it's not too hot in terms of raw performance. The 700 has an 'Integrated Intel GMA 900 graphics processor (Shared Memory Architecture), additional VGA port (up to 1600×1280 pixels)'.

This chipset seems to support DX9 and OpenGL 1.4: http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma900/index.htm

...but I've got no idea how you'd make DP run on it.

With linux, it's just a matter of getting the right packages and such-- I was able to run it on my 900, but honestly it's not worth it at all.

I mean, unless you like 10fps.
