Debit Card
« on: January 01, 2009, 07:04:21 PM »
Can I buy online with a debit card?
and if yes does it take money directly out of my checking account, or does it send a bill to me and expect me to send them a check?

Only if your debit card has a credit card brand on it (I probably said that wrong) Anyway, let's use mine as an example, it's a Numark card, but it has mastercard's logo on the card too. So I can use it as a credit card then it just takes the cash straight out of my account.

Yeah mine has the visa logo on it. Ok cool so it pulls money straight from my account. Are you sure I wont get bills asking for money though? Because I have a checking account but I dont have checks, cuz I don't need them.

It will pull the money directly from your bank account if you use your debit card.  I do this all the time.

But the logos look sooooo cool!!

In addition, when actually using the debit card, it wont show up that quick in the bank statement if you are looking online. It may take 30 mins to a couple hours. And make sure you have money in there or you get screwed in the butt.

Speaking of bank statements, did you ever find that one bank statement?

You could totally build a 1000x better computer for less than $8,000. Won't have the nice lookin logo, but if you find a good artist, I'm sure you can have him design a better one for less than $6,000.

I was completley kidding about the alienware. A few months ago I went on their site and cutomized a desktop to purchase and the total was roughly 8K.

Eradicator,  one thing to note about  debit cards, sometimes companies (PayPal, Amazon, Steam, iTunes, etc.)  will take out a small amount of money to make sure the account is valid and in good standing (positive).   So say you're going to buy a $10 album on iTunes, you'll need to have MORE than $10 in the account (although I think iTunes just takes out a buck.)
