Sunday Showdown #2--Map is sphouse-Congrats to 3iob
« on: March 15, 2009, 08:04:58 PM »
Here are the details:

IRC Channel: #sundayshowdown

- Each team must have at least one representative in the irc channel by start of game.
- USA servers only.
- first 8 teams to sign up can participate.
- 3 vs 3, teams of up to 5, subs allowed during the match.
- deadline for signing up teams and for finalizing rosters for each team is Sunday at 6:00 PM Eastern time.
- demos need only be provided if there is a dispute or suspicion of hacking. In either of those cases they will go to the judge who will settle the dispute. There will be no in-game referees, so try to work out your own issues.
- The judge will determine the brackets.
- There is only ONE map total for the showdown each week. Each match consists of two teams playing on that one map for ONE game.  The map for this Sunday is sphouse.
- The tournament is single elimination.
- The tournament will be held from 7-9 Eastern.
- If teams want to have their friends spec them just to watch that is fine. No talking if you are an observer.
-If there are any disputes over which team gets which color the team that signed up first in the tournament will get their choice of color.
- Prizes--no prizes, though if the project takes off I will list all previous winners in the next thread for a little reputation boost.

Previous winners:

March 15, Propaint 1, 3iob defeats SQ in finals.

Are you looking for maps played on pubs constantly or some maps not on rotation?
Ex. would be  tfs2  vs. propaint3

Status Quo should be able to participate again. The lineup will be posted later.

I am hoping to get a bit more obscure, but make a good argument for a 3 v 3 and I will consider it. If this works out well again we will likely have 4's the next week.

Maps I am considering right now, but open to others:

propaint 2
pbcup_pforest
sandassult
roundup

Zpar is not quite finished yet, and DT is looking into any glitches to fix. If it gets done soon I might consider that.

ccc is a new one to me, but looking at it the thing is pretty large. It might fit a few more players better. Does look interesting though.

Alot of these are speed maps but if you think about it they could be good for 3v3/4v4

antioch
anubis
darkages
hca fort
nightfactor
oth
razzle
tfs2
ub_cliff
ub_rooftop

Could use beta maps I'm sure there are TONS of good ones to use.

I will think over some of those. A few though seem problematic.

darkages - I like the map but different bases is an argument waiting to happen. So maps like this or Italy etc. seem a poor idea for a tourney.

razzle-I really don't like the routes on this one, very little cross over of routes and too many choke points.

ub_cliff-a little small.

Antioch is too easy to camp, as teams would do to win.

I'd love to see darkages get played again.

Razzle does not have correct spawns.

ub_cliff is no match map.

Roundup would be really good.

Here is the old pbcup map list. I changed it to what I feel good

cancan
castle1
crimethink
darkages
disaster
midnight
moonlit2r1
pball_shreds1
pbcup_renoir
pbcup_sassault
perfugio
pforest
propaint1
propaint2
roundup
sphouse
warhouse

Those are maps that aren't played much, if at all. Yet they support good match play.

Sphouse would be interesting to see new clans learn to play it.

Roundup would be too easily camped as has been shown in the past. Games are won/lost by 1 point leads.

Sphouse is a GREAT map. I always love playing it. I like Roundup, sadly it does get camped.

A lot of those are looking good.  I love shreds, but I think it is not one a lot of teams would flock to.

sphouse is an UGLY map, and very intimidating, but could be fun for match play.

We may play a lot of these as time goes on, but for now I think let's narrow it down.

These are the three finalists. Give feedback as to which you want:

propaint 2
pbcup_pforest
sphouse

 QeHs:
blaa
Magalhaes
oldie
Gamabunta
criminal.

As 80% of those people on the list cant probably play, then i maybe have to change the list at some point.

Sphouse sounds sexy.
