Newmap : Anywhere on earth
« on: March 29, 2009, 10:31:48 AM »
Hello again.

I released my last map months ago, so I decided to create a new one.

Here are some screenshots and the mapdownload.

Feel free to post your statements and suggestion into this thread.

Nice looking. Good you got the models working. Here's some shots of things you might want to change.

1.Wrong texture on the side.
2.Might want to add pillar to support the catwalk.
3.Change the grass in the bottom of the pool for rock or something like that.
4.Put other texture to the end of the pillar. Plants don't usually come out of rock.

Two mistakes :P There is a black line at the top of the wrong texture.

The summer comes (with plants and green trees). So u should change the complete ice to water (or something else). We have enough ice-speed-jump-maps...

Ice makes this map fun. Only reason why all the jumps work.

I personaly do not like the stone wall.

You can expect Knack to make a post about that here anytime soon.

Back on topic, the map looks a bit too wide open. But that's only judging from the screenshots. I'm testing the map in a while, will edit post for extra comments.

EDIT: Alright, I took a quick look at the map. Sorry but I didn't feel like making screenshots, I'll try my best to describe what I mean.

- map is WAAAAY to easy to cap, I did a quick "trial run" and could cap at least 5 times in 1 minute.
- underground would be nicer if it were a lot darker, especially the hallways at the elevators on either end
- top of the fences on blue side in the underground are red
- having 2 spawn points on both above and under ground would be better than 3 above and 1 under (gives people more "incentive" to go underground)
- takes a wee bit more effort to go up the ladders on the sides of the top middle, suggest you make the clip brush cover the entire face, no one can really get stuck there anyway
- need to make the invisible brushes of the trees taller, I was able to jump on top and "become one with the tree"
- a cool idea would be to add invisible brushes to the tree branches as well, that would create some camping spots that COULD slow down the gameplay by quite a bit

why are you worrying so much about the low route?  as the main route is about as fast as dhemap or theice3, there's no need to set a foot underground :P

and camping on the trees... well, in the time it takes you to get there, the other team probably has grabbed your flag already :)

Its more a fun/pubmap than a matchmap, so i dont think its too easy to cap.

- map is WAAAAY to easy to cap, I did a quick "trial run" and could cap at least 5 times in 1 minute.

Sure if nobody shoot at you :)

- underground would be nicer if it were a lot darker, especially the hallways at the elevators on either end

I will test it with b2

- top of the fences on blue side in the underground are red

Will be fixed with b2

having 2 spawn points on both above and under ground would be better than 3 above and 1 under (gives people more "incentive" to go underground)

Actually there a 8 Spawnpoints, 7 above 1 under, i will change it to 5above and 3 under

- takes a wee bit more effort to go up the ladders on the sides of the top middle, suggest you make the clip brush cover the entire face, no one can really get stuck there anyway

Its not that hard to climb up, but i will change it.

- need to make the invisible brushes of the trees taller, I was able to jump on top and "become one with the tree"

Will be fixed in b2

- a cool idea would be to add invisible brushes to the tree branches as well, that would create some camping spots that COULD slow down the gameplay by quite a bit

I dont like this idea.

why are you worrying so much about the low route?  as the main route is about as fast as dhemap or theice3, there's no need to set a foot underground :P

Not really, if he camps, you will have a chance to cap, when you are going low

The summer comes (with plants and green trees). So u should change the complete ice to water (or something else). We have enough ice-speed-jump-maps...

That  would be a horrible gameplay

Could you also upload a .zip?

No, sorry. Maybe anyone can upload a .zip, please

I don't think so. Looks like 90% of the cz players: not many jumps = horrible gameplay...
Why do u/they need to fly through the whole map???

No, sorry. Maybe anyone can upload a .zip, please

because if people suck at shooting, they need to play maps with features where they're good at  8)

Everyone likes maps with few jumps except you there s something wrong..

Map is empty but gameplay is good.
