I think it's a vis glitch where you get the hall of mirrors effect.  About the only thing that can be done is recompile the map with a vis compiler that has that particular glitch fixed, or add some hint brushes and such, and hope for the best.  I think things like the railings in the base are a bigger issue, since those get seen all the time.
