With musik and the xmapcom members, rules can be changed by the owner, but I don’t know what rule book you go by, many people have different views on it and they are titled to that.
I go by the rules on the first page.

Seeing as nobody else has done this yet, and I'm an self-absorbed arse, I put some previews up at my new blog (how original).

Oh crap

Hehe, atleast someone else uses groups too, not just me :P

Seeing as this is only the first contest, pretty much anything goes. We need to see what works and what doesn't, and fix them for the next contest. We're already discussing rules for the next contest, as it'll be right around the corner. So right now, let's keep the .map files optional. If a lot of people include them, then we can make it required without making it too much of a hassle.

As to ViciouZ's post, the "Sign Up Deadline" was mainly so we had a general idea of how many people were participating. If we didn't have that, and no one bothered to post saying that they were entering, we'd have no clue how many entries we were going to recieve, if not any at all.

Sorry if this contest seemed completely unorganized. There have been a lot of problems and rule changing, but that'll be fixed for the coming contests.

This competition just started not to long ago so not everything is going to be organized completely.

We need opinions on how to announce the results of the contest. We can either edit my first post on this thread and attach a nice splash page announcing the winner, or we can announce it live in a server. We can also do both. However, without anyone telling us which we should do, we don't know what would benefit you guys the most. As for the time zone problems, even though it wouldn't be as fun, we can record a demo and post it on this thread as well. Please reply to this. Anyone.

What do you mean by this?

I think it would be enough if you'd post the results and few comments from judges, if they want to give any, to this thread.

If they want to give any, no, they are judging a competition. The contestants deserve comments and the reasons why the judges chose the winning map.

Think that just a few things are enough, just need to comment on the maps and justify their comments, point out their mistakes.

Just the important things are enough. Although if you want to write a long review, go ahead.

I will 'Slap!' any judge on IRC if they don't write a minimum page length review on each map. :)

EDIT: *Arial font, size 12, no bold, single space for cameron :)

in my opinion, if should be more like a comment v. a eassy.  but still be long enugh to state what the good fetures of the map where and what could have been worked on more.

My teachers are just dumb enough to not count the words cos it takes time, they just go by the number of pages you hand to them.  I normally get away with handing a 400 word essay in instead of a 800-900 word one.

Well if you have to turn it in electronically you can’t get away with it.
