xMAPCOM Entry: Passageway To Hell
« on: August 26, 2009, 09:48:31 AM »
Musik's entry for xMAPCOM Summer 2009 is finally here! I introduce to you - Passageway to Hell. I hope you have fun playing this map.

A few things:
I will be leaving for Japan the next day, so I will be missing for a couple of days. I also haven't had too much time to work on this map (the idea came to me about a week ago, so I started last week), so there are a few areas that seem empty and unfinished. Rspeeds are also high, but reasonable, so they should not affect gameplay by a large margin. I will be continuing work on this map, but in order to submit it for the contest in time, I had to rush a few things, along with the packing I had to do. You can expect quite a different Beta 2 released after the contest, as pressures of submission deadlines and whatnot won't be present.

All excrement aside, here's Passageway To Hell.

I kinda get lost in it, everything looks the same. Also there are a lot of overlapping brushes.

Yes tons of overlapping brushes.
And you need some kind of markers to point people in the right direction.

Overlapping brushes are my weakness, I've been trying to avoid them, but in the rush to finish it, I completely forgot.

It looks too bland for me, greyish textures, over used team color textures etc. But lot's of positive is that you made that lava texture, adds a whole new dimension to the map. And as Rimini and Termi said, is pretty easy to get lost (confusion went over my maps :D). But after no clipping and walking back and forth few times i got the hang somehow

Online at [OTB] Beta.

@JeeJee: There is a lava texture at beta/kbase_b1.bsp also.

Honestly, I don't think my map stands a chance at all against JeeJee and blaas, or ViciouZ and Cusoman's entries. XD
I promise I'll be a better challenger next time though.

Put the map up on the beta server and attached a demo with some suggestions.  I think I've given you the login for the server, but PM me if you need it.
