We need to stop "Voting" on things to put in this game, and just put the darn things in that we really need.

Are you serious? You want the committee to vote on a ban for someone being a nuisance in pub? Its a public server open to all. If you want something done, go to the server admins like Jigsaw is suggesting.

Actually my post was a direct response to somone asking the committee to ban him for being an idiot in pubs. Secondly, the whole point of the feature vote system is for Jitspoe to know what we would like him to work on next. There is no "we" adding stuff to this game. Its one person making the final desicions, the feature vote is a way for him to get input from the community.

And Henrod, yes I am being serious. Seeing as the guy has a dynamic ip, a hardware ban is necessary.

Cambridge is not the 2nd top university. American universities have ruled the ranking of the world's top universities for a long time, and the only competiton in the foreseeable future is from China. Cambridge is up there, but it lags behind a lot of American unversities. But it doesn't matter. Immaturity and stupidity knows no age.

But anyway, if Paintball didn't get so buggy and unpredictable with a lot of players, dpWatchDog could be pretty useful in banning the guy (on OTB servers).

More on-topic: hardware bans for individual servers would open quite a few issues as the server admins would have to be able to access the hardware info for that player.

Even with dploginid based bans, it's almost less effort for the abuser to make a new account than it is for the server admin to apply the ban to a server.

I don't like the idea of exposing the hardware IDs of players even just to server admins, but I don't see too much harm being done if an admin could query the hardware ID of a connected client from their own server kind've like how they can lookup IPs.

I ban him every time I see him. What else do you want me to do? Knack is right that a good solution would be forced login on the server. I don't really want to force people to log in until it is possible to create an account directly from the game.

if someone feels like tinkering around with the code there should be a way to make a server side banlist based off the name.
Kinda like ViciouZs swear filter only it kicks you from the server.
