It's a lot more fun if you discover things on your own, and it's really easy to have things spoiled. The ending was spoiled for me by reading youtube comments. Some of the most interesting areas are not necessary to complete the game, so it's good to explore. After you've played a little, I have some mild spoilers below in case you missed them.
Mild spoilers:
Since you'll be wandering a lot, there's a faster way to move around. One of the effects is a bike. Go trough the bottommost right door. Go straight left.

You need to collect 24 effects (you'll have 25 total, with the instructions) and drop them in the door room. Don't bother dropping them until you've collected them all. After that, it should be obvious.
